TV & Streaming Media
The always expanding world of cable television and streaming media (videos, podcasts, and webinars) can be difficult to navigate through. Like everything related to informational products and services we can view from our television monitors and other devices, it is filled with both misinformation and valuable and truthful learning environments. This broadcast world is even more unwieldy when you consider all the steaming media being shared and commented on over social media platforms and all the political and news sites (which we do not address here). Our focus in this section is on what learning- oriented programming we can watch from the comfort of our offices and living rooms that are not strictly online learning courses, but are experiences dynamically presented through the art of digital film. Our favorites are listed below.

PBS – The well-known and popular Public Broadcasting Service caters to Americans by featuring programming of the highest quality, using media to educate, inspire, entertain, and express a diversity of perspectives. Don’t miss the streaming documentaries by Ken Burns, who has produced and directed some of the most acclaimed historical documentaries ever made. Curiosity Stream – Award-winning destination for documentary series and features covering every topic from space exploration to adventure to the secret life of pets. Discovery+ - Access more than 55,000 episodes of 2,500+ current and classic shows, including HGTV, Food Network, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, BBC’s natural history offering, and more. Smithsonian Channel – Awe-inspiring stories, powerful documentaries, and amazing entertainment provided through Showtime Network. History Vault – Documentaries from the History Channel that can be streamed for free. The Great Courses Plus – Hundreds of courses & lectures. Enlightening, engaging, and expansive educational content on hundreds of subjects. Video Lectures - Open access educational video lectures repository. The lectures are given by distinguished scholars and scientists at the most important and prominent events like conferences, summer schools, workshops and science promotional events from many fields of Science.
